Born in Sri Lanka, grew up in Nigeria, and I have been in the USA since 2003. I completed my undergraduate at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge in Biological Engineering, with a focus in Chemistry and Shoreline Protection. I continued my studies at LSU, and obtained my Master of Science in Biological and Agricultural engineering studying biocompatible oral drug delivery vehicles. Following the end of my Master’s studies at LSU, my desire to learn about how my work in the laboratory gets translated into products for the masses led me to Cornell University, where I studied Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering. Currently, I am back where I have considered home for the last 9 years, on and off. I am pursuing a Doctorate degree in Engineering Science with a Biomedical Engineering focus at Louisiana State University.

I am passionate about Ballroom dancing and cooking. They are hobbies that help me relax. I also enjoy reading non-scientific journals and novels when time permits.

My research is currently in its infant stages as I am a first year PhD student. It will entail the use of biopolymers to create targeted antimicrobial vehicles for fresh vegetable washes, to limit food borne pathogen outbreaks.
